History

Designed by the architects responsible for such New York City landmarks as the Stock Exchange, Saks Fifth Avenue and the Downtown Athletic Club, The Sloane is truly part of New York's historical landscape. Built between 1929-1930 by Starrett & Van Vleck, The William Sloane House originally provided 1493 rooms for young men and enlisted personnel of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. At that time, it featured such amenities as a barber shop, billiard and social rooms, a physician and employment services. The Sloane was completely restored and redesigned in 1995 to accommodate its current 260 gracious residences.
